Julian Bunn Software and Computing for the LHC In this talk I will describe the computing needs of the LHC experiments and the current state of the art in the deployment of infrastructure worldwide to meet them. The talk will then focus on the CMS experiment's needs: research, planning, development, deployment and maintenance of computers, software and networks. New developments, particularly in the areas of analysis of distributed event data sets, and in efficient use, command and control of the global "grid" systems, will be highlighted.
