Networking Projects and Collaborative Tools
- US LHCNet - provides transatlantic connections of the Tier1 computing facilities at Fermilab and Brookhaven with the Tier0 and Tier1 facilities at CERN as well as Tier1s elsewhere in Europe and Asia. Together with ESnet, Internet2, the GEANT pan-European network, and NSF’s UltraLight project, US LHCNet also supports connections between the Tier2 centers and the Tier1s as needed.
- OLiMPS - a centralized, out-of-band OpenFlow based controller to construct a robust multi-path system without modifications to the Layer 2 frame structure.
- ANSE - ANSE (Advanced Network Services for Experiments) in the context of CMS, aims to greatly improve PhEDEx’ network awareness as well as to provide bandwidth provisioning capabilities based on bulk data transfer requirements.
- EVO, the Collaboration Network - a large, distributed video/audio system for the LHC and other major High Energy Physics programs
- Ultralight - An Ultrascale Information System for Data Intensive Research
- Caltech High Energy Physics Tier2 - computer cluster at the Caltech Center for Advanced Computing Research, part of the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid
- MonALISA - Monitoring Agents using a Large Integrated Services Architecture
- Fast Data Transfer (FDT) - Application for Efficient Data Transfers
- Caltech @ Supercomputing - The Caltech CMS HEP group participates each year at the Supercomputing conference and has won several bandwidth challenges in efficiently moving traffic among various collaborators. During the conference in 2013 held at Denver, Colorado, the group demonstrated 100G data transfers to CERN and a local Terabit/sec demonstration of moving scientific data.
